Embracing your Second Spring
a Virtual Yoga Series to Support (Peri)menopause

Perimenopause is a normal & healthy life transition.
In our Autumn years, we become the caterpillar shedding & releasing as we move into our later reproductive years. Perimenopause is often depicted as something horrible, filled with uncomfortable symptoms & fear.
Perimenopause is an opportunity to liberate yourself & to fully step into your power, letting go of expectations.
Our Winter years (menopause) are a time of deep reflection. We cocoon & rest, as we find inner awareness and embrace our wisdom.
Post menopause, our second Spring, we emerge from the cocoon as a butterfly testing its wings for the first time. This is the new you. It’s not an easy journey because coming home to yourself never is. Change is often uncomfortable & sad but the end result is worth it.

Each week we'll dive into 1 of the 5 Elements in Chinese Medicine. We'll explore how to support our (Peri) menopausal selves through each element & organ system. We'll look at how we can support our whole self, instead of just trying to navigate symptoms.
Traditional Chinese Medicine works with the idea that we are all individual & unique, so there is no "one size fits all" approach. It's also about treating the cause of the symptom rather than the symptom itself. This series is a stepping stone, an offering, for your inner journey.

Our sessions will include movement, lecture, and journaling around that week's element. Each practice will be trauma informed & functional movement. We will work with the qualities of each element & their corresponding meridians. Each practice could be Hatha with elements of flow, gentle, Yin, restorative with pranayama and meditation.

These sessions are open to all women, trans men, and ​nonbinary individuals
moving through (Peri) Menopause.
​
Sessions will be recorded & available within 48 hours after.
You will have access to the recordings for 4 months.

Water Element
In this first session, we'll flow with the Water Element, as well as, the Kidney & Bladder meridians.
We'll focus on our Yin energy, along with our Willpower and our fear around (Peri) menopause.
Water is also about introspection, cooling, (re)birth, and conserving energy.
Water connects to the bones and adrenals.
How does a decrease in Yin energy affect us? What are some ways we can increase Yin?

Fire Element
In this session, we'll expand with the Fire Element, along with the Heart, Small Intestine, Pericardium, & Triple Warmer meridians.
We'll focus on our Yang energy, along with the mind, and the joy of connection with Self.
Fire is also about excitement, emotional well-being, and transformation. The energy of Summer.
When our Fire is out of balance, we can be closed off, feel anxiety, or have disrupted sleep.
How can we find a balance in our Yang energy? How might we connect with ourselves more during this deep transformation? Where does Joy fit into (Peri) menopause? What are some ways we can keep our Heart healthy?

Metal Element
This week, we'll refine with the Metal Element, along with our Lung & Large Intestine meridians.
Metal is the slowly waning energy of the Autumn season & our Perimenopause transition.
Metal is about discernment, acceptance, boundaries, and letting go. It's tied to the emotion grief & our self worth.
​Metal is connected to our skin & hair.
What wisdom can we gain from the compost of our life experience? Where can we cut away or release what we no longer need? Can we hold space for our grief during this transition? Is there value in who we are in our post- reproductive years?

Wood Element
​This week, we'll grow with the Wood Element, as well as, the Liver & Gallbladder meridians.
Wood is the slowly building Yang energy of Spring. We'll focus on the direction we want our life to go in our Second Spring. We'll look at places we might repress our emotions & our Sacred Rage.
Wood is also about vision & imagination & flexibility.
Wood connects to the eyes, detoxification system, tendons, and joints.
How does stress affect our (Peri) menopause transition? How can we hold space for whatever emotions we are feeling?

Earth Element
This week, we'll ground with the Earth Element, as well as, the Spleen & Stomach meridians.
We'll focus on nurturing ourselves, finding presence, and our intention/ purpose.
Earth is also about sweetness, self care, as well as, the processing & digesting of our emotions & experiences.
Earth connects to our muscles & digestion.
It's the energy of Late Summer & Harvest season.
What is our relationship to food & sweetness? Are there worries about our (Peri) menopausal journey?

Yin/ Yang
This session is an optional add- on.
​
It will be an overall balancing session, integrating all 5 Elements: a space for us to move & breathe together. There will be time for us to share our experiences thus-far. We'll look at Elements we might feel more connected to & ones we struggled with. This (Peri) menopause journey is an individual & unique experience.
