Winter Yin & Yoga Nidra

January 10, 2025
6- 7:30 PM PST

Winter brings the energy of renewal, new beginnings, reflection, death & (re) birth. Winter Season ties to the Water Element- the cold, dark and quiet at the bottom of the ocean. It’s the beginning of life and the space of introspection where we plant the seeds of our dreams. Water is our wisdom, our willpower, our deep sense of Self.

The Water Element is associated with the Kidneys & the Bladder, in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The emotion associated with Water is fear.

This session will offer some centering & breath awareness, followed by a functional Yin Yoga practice and Yoga Nidra. All offerings are trauma informed.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that leads you through the 5 Koshas (layers of your being). It is often called "yogic sleep" and can be deeply healing, while helping with stress, anxiety, trauma, and more.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a passive practice of mostly seated or reclined shapes, with longer holds, usually 3-5 minutes. This allow us to soften the muscles & target the fascia (connective tissue). The purpose is to hydrate the tissues & create circulation around the joints. The fascial lines have been considered the physical representation of the TCM energetic meridians.
