Late Summer Yoga

In TCM, this time of late summer/ early autumn belongs to the Earth Element. This is a time for gratitude and transformation as we appreciate the last days of Summer and anticipate the shorter days ahead.

The Earth Element manifests in the Spleen (yin) and Stomach (Yang). 

 

Earth energy is grounding, nurturing, and supportive. Emotionally it’s related to worry. When your Earth energy is balanced, your digestion is strong (food & sensory intake), you’re present and attentive, you prioritize self care. Earth is the Mother energy- nurturing and caring.

Nourish your Yin

Join me for a 90-minute Yin practice focusing on the Stomach & Spleen meridians (thighs, front of the torso, and inner leg lines), to slowly increase our Yin energy as we move towards the Autumn season.

This practice offers variations for each yin shape, encouraging you to truly honor and nourish your body. 

Yin Yoga is an introspective practice, working with the fascia (connective tissue) to help release tension in the body. You will be invited to find presence throughout this session, slowly quieting the mind as you focus on this moment.

intentionally designed longer practices, as an opportunity for you to devote more time for yourself. 

(Optional props- 2 blocks, bolster, strap, and blanket or similar items to support your practice)

Journal prompts will be offered, relevant to the Earth Element.

Ground your Yang

Join me for an 120- minute active practice, focusing on the Stomach and Spleen meridians. Moving slowly we will luxuriate in the Yang shapes, as we create circulation and warmth through the body, without depleting ourselves. This practice is designed to ground our energy, focusing on strength in the legs and abdominals. We'll also practice twists and shapes that open or compress the digestive organs.

Variations are offered to support your practice.

These practices are longer, creating opportunity for you to devote more time for yourself. These practices also offer the chance for you to start to slow down and go inward, as we move towards the Autumn season.
